today is a travel day as we journey some 2 1/2 hours to dinosaur provincial park near brooks, alberta. this the place where all the dinosaur bones in the drumheller museum were actually found.
only people booked on a tour get to go into the preserved section, and we've got a tour booked for 2pm

well, it turns out that with all the rain they've been having (did we mention it threatened to rain every day since we arrived here but it miraculously lifted just in time for whatever activity we were starting?)
anyhow, the weather fairy has just been following us so it had rained here and the clay swells up and makes it too slippery for us to go on our scheduled tour.  boo-hoo.

but no matter.
there are great trails, and lots of them, that we were allowed to use and i'm sure the landscape would be near the same (plus i'm not a fan of dinos anyhow...  what i really wanted to see was the hoodoos).
in some ways, it was actually more fun (and certainly more dangerous) to explore on our own, and at our own pace.
