in town, there just happens to be a festival to celebrate canada's national parks day. there's a bear trap on display and we learn about how the rangers combat the bear problem (upon hearing that a bear is visiting a park/campsite, they empty the park, set up a fake campsite and wait. the bear that shows up gets bean bags shot at him, rubber bullets, and a ton of banging noises. that should scare the bear but good, and then they'll associate people with this bad experience)
but if push comes to shove, this trap - filled with a dead beaver (their fav) - will lure them in
here's the kind of bear we don't mind seeing
(we've seen 2 black bears on the roads so far, but no grizzlies. we
never get out of the car either)
