PromCom or How to get from There to Here

1. pepper wrote a play over the summer, a rom-com full of highschool stereotypes getting ready for prom
2. she submitted it to her teacher who agreed it would be 1 of the 2 Lourdes offerings that went to the Sears Drama Festival
3. pepper took on the role of director and cast her play
4. .....lots of time and hard work
5. its debut was to be March 1st but a storm pushed that to the 4th (lucky for us as we were still in cuba)

before it began, i warned my family that there was no point in offering constructive criticisms once it was over as this was a one shot deal...that we should stick with the positives.

it was amazing. and SO funny.

as the curtain went down, i was speechless, near tears. i couldn't believe she had created such a wonderful play.

ok, bear with me. i just think she's so super talented and i couldn't stop posting examples of her genius.

aren't you just loving her themes? the wink that is everywhere... and don't get me started on the mismatched ponytail holders and the t shirt pics reflecting the scene. all great, subtle details that makes graphic novels fun to re-read, and re-see.








and lastly, she rendered her hero in plasticine -

fierce calls the one above "senior, the elderly frog", and the one below is "hunter: the monster dog"

these ones are pepper's - don't think she named them...

but she did tell me that her frog is catching a fly, and.... is holding his baby picture! you gotta love those details :)

we got to attend an animator workshop hosted by Disney staff and they took us through the process of drawing a character,
which just happened to be my favorite:

it was fun to just follow the simple instructions (make a 'six' for the mouth, etc)

since we all did it at the same time, and it was dark in the room except for our individual desks/workspaces, it was cool to see what each other did when it was over.
