that's lion's gate in the background there (below)
the children and i with the famous siwash rock behind us
and here's the children playing in the water (filthy polluted, btw)
so this is the famous steaming clock in gastown, but the memorable part was the mentally-ill man pretending he was a tour guide and telling everyone to cover their heads because it was going to spew forth steaming water (stand back! stand back) later on, we saw him wearing a traffic vest and directing cars to off streets.
the old spaghetti factory (gastown) - not the grandeur of toronto's but still a good meal all the children are guaranteed to eat
the next day we're at the capilano suspension bridge
ok, it's a long bridge, and it sways (so that's fun) but most of this 'park' is sterile and contrived
case in point: this is the 'new' cliff walk. but you are totally enclosed. even the supposed glass floor is checker board translucent so that when you look down, it appears your on a table cloth, nothing in the least bit daring
then there's this new exhibit to demo water use and conservation, but it's all fake. in the middle of a forest, they have to fake a waterfall, and these misters; pepper finds the nozzles no problem
(don't get me started on the ridiculous looking salmon swimming up stream - even the oldtime disney animatronics would have been better)
then we went to the vancouver museum
it's the whole history of vancouver, but the kids enjoy the hippie section the most. and after our experience in nelson bosco is only too happy to pose with this placard:
