we leave set out early to beat the crowds (ok, we didn't leave as early as we could - we had to stop at the bear paws bakery afterall...)
anyhow, the parking lot is almost full when we get there, so we take a spot near the exit of what must be a circuitous pathway.
with no signs to tell us we're going the wrong way, we head slowly uphill to our destination -
when we crest the hill - wow
we were pretty much stunned: the huge
blue green glacier sitting in it's pool of meltwater, the angel glacier above us...
if we'd gone the other way, we would have climbed up the crest sooner and seen the glacier in the distance for some time before we got in front of it - this way was much more dramatic
you can see avalanche trails on mount cavell, this must be a chunk from the last big fall
now that we've done the glacier tour we can see the difference between this season's snow, avalanches, and glaciers
a dunn-dufault vacation tradition - we create a snowman no matter where we go
