NYC: monday

it's pouring today, but that's OK - we bought new rubber boots on 5th avenue a couple of days ago :)
we go to the famous new and used bookstore, the strand, and swoon with their selection.  in the subway, we notice all these sculptures:

my mother said she saw no homeless people in NYC, so here's my proof

we try our darnest to get to momufuku for their cereal milk - but it's closed!
crap!

one good thing about the rain - there's no line-up at grimaldi's
so we get a seat immediately :)

beside us there is a mom with her teenager sons - they had driven all the way from kentucky for this pizza!
and it is SO worth it -

our stomach filled, we head to FAO schwarz
this is the store that houses the piano tom hanks played on in the movie Big

they've also got a massive candy store!

so this is where we buy 'souvenirs' for the boys...
who wants plastic mini statues-of-liberty when you could have candy?

we shop the east village for vintage clothing but are shocked to see the price tags!  this is not vintage for regular folk.
so we go to loeman's and love the shoes (and the prices!) but -no luck - nothing in our sizes
we have some real NY cheesecake (and it's so filling that we can't finish one single piece between the two of us!) then a last look at time squre before we watch our last broadway show:

afterwards, there's time for one last must-have NY treat: frozen hot chocolate at serendipity
ahhh... what a life
