chicago: saturday

fresh off the plane, and hungry - our first stop is Pizano's
famous for their thin crust chicago style pizza:

our verdict: hmm.  different but ok.
the crust is biscuit-like, reminding me of shortbread.  a little too heavy on the cheese, but easily corrected as we leave half of it on our plates.

we walk the magnificent mile, do a little shopping at the water tower, then relax at our hostel (should have taken photos: it was the best hostel i've EVER stayed in.  well deserving of all it's awards!)

at navy pier, we enjoy a funnel cake.  there's a guy here riding the ferris wheel for a world record.
as we wait in line, a butler - complete in tuxedo and silver tray - delivers the guy his steak dinner

we get our first good view of the chicago skyline

there was some really cool scultural art on the fairgrounds, but the lighting was fading so we took photos another day.
tonight, we stayed to watch the fireworks
