introducing... ella

how can you mend a broken heart...
one that is still so wounded, even after 4 months?

you get a new cat for sad arms to hold

but this is not pepper's cat, this is a family cat.
this takes away the sometimes-heavy burden of decision: i think pepper felt such a responsibility for midnight - such a deep regret over things that were not hers to control.
and so she walked through those moments over and over again looking for an alternative result.

after 4 months, she still hadn't reached the futility stage that my learned friend jenny talks about. so with a new love in one out-stretched hand, i'm hoping she'll be able to close the other one and let it lie.

that said, i am happy to report that ella chooses to lounge on pepper's bed, and that ella likes to sit inside the half-opened second drawer of pepper's dresser.
as pepper said when we brought ella home: "i'm so glad to have a cat in the house again"

  1. J went through something similar with the passing of his iguana. After a great deal of research and condieration he now has "Splash" the canary.
