the parable of the tow truck driver

it was late at night.
our car had died at the gas station and we needed a tow.
it was an unneeded cost, an inconvenience.
and it was just the beginning:  garage diagnostics, decisions between saving the old vs getting the new,
plus
it would wreck havock on our monday morning.  we wanted it solved.

we called for a tow.  the truck appeared.
and next to the stranger - a friendly face.  jay.
and because we had a relationship with jay, and jay had a relationship with the tow truck driver, all 3 men tucked their heads under the hood.
and solved it.

and monday morning was saved.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

we are the sum of our relationships.  we can embrace or reject.  we can help or hinder.
and the next time you need a tow
- or join a dance class -
- or find a dojo -
- or get a new client -
who will be beside that stranger?
